Introducing the Fifth Political Theory — The Fifth Political Theory (5PT) seeks to conceptualize a non-nationalist approach to the perpetuity of Western people(s) and their cultures in our world. When completed, it is my hope to have formed a sound theory aimed at reconciling our heritage and the legacy of our empires and nation-states with our most viable future prospect, which is becoming a stateless diaspora people or peoples.
The De-Nationalization of the Global European Diaspora — Outside of a few Eastern European countries, nationalism is largely civic, not ethnic or racial, for Europeans and Eurocolonials. Anyone can be or become an American. Anyone can be or become British. Anyone can be or become French. Anyone can be or become German. And so forth… With that attitude, how can one speak of a European or Eurocolonial nation as anything other than an administrative unit of the Atlanticist social and economic order (which is founded upon anti-nationalism in the first place)?
- France and the Fifth Political Theory — The ethnic French and the enfranchised settler-immigrant communities of France have once again resoundingly rejected nationalism. That is the takeaway from the election. The future of the ethnic French, or more correctly the Western diaspora living in France, cannot be tied to the nation-state. That is the takeaway from 5PT.
- Terror and Tribe in the West — Muslim terrorists are going to continue to attack European and Eurocolonial countries because they believe they are “Crusader states” that persecute Muslims. And these states are going to tolerate it because they are more committed to cosmopolitan piety than they are to their own self-preservation. This is indeed just the way things are: two systems of false perception in conflict with one another. You will not save these people. You must rid yourself of this attachment. They do not want you to save them.
- Catalonia and the Problem of Separatist Nationalism — The separatists in Catalonia are not motivated by any traditional nationalist concerns; rather they wish to create a better shopping mall than Spain, where Catalan is legally promoted above the Spanish/Castilian language (which everyone is essentially already bilingual in) and where migrants will find a more attractive benefits package than in Spain. It is cosmopolitan separatism in the language of nationalism.
- Google has a Diversity Problem, and So Does the United States — Google’s own data shows that white males are critical to the firm, so trying to reduce the share of white males in the workforce must be entirely ideological. As a policy, Diversity is self-destructive, like a parasite slowly killing its host. It is an ideology and a moral paradigm rather than a natural interest of the firm.
Sub-National and Trans-National Identity as a Response to the Loss of Nation-Statehood — The diaspora model posits the adoption of sub-national and trans-national identity as a response to the death of national identity and as an extension of the identity formation processes granted to us by post-modern technology… we observe that the borders and demographics have fallen where they are, and that X can be found irrespective of where X is “supposed to be” or originally from. We are interested in the ur-identity of the tribe, not in the ancestral urheimat. This detachment will become our strength.
The Western Liberal as Transhuman — The de-nationalized Western liberal who believes in the integration of all communities, the absence of inherited (or acquired) meaningful human differences, and that she exists as a generic human being animated only by the ideological pursuit of material equality and cosmopolitanism for cosmopolitanism’s sake, is the prototype of the transhuman. This new kind of human has shed all of its organic identity in place of the ability to consume at will, whenever and wherever without any sort of communitarian barriers, except against the more “retrograde” identity-conscious people who must be vigorously excluded from participation. In that sense the liberal or “progressive” state of being is a conflict between what we might call Man 1.0 and Man 2.0, in which the “newer” iteration sets itself upon eradicating those living fossils of the older model through pure impulse.
Tribal Praxis versus National Praxis — The general principle of tribal praxis is to go outside of one’s network only as necessary. Resources should be kept internal as much as possible. Opportunities should be afforded to the in-group first. And so forth. All of these build a sense of cohesion and loyalty, and thus a stronger identity. And they are all impossible through the model of purely focusing on politics or metapolitics.
The Necessity of a New State-Agnostic Model — 5PT does not deny that a state would be beneficial. Nor does it deny that a nation-state of refuge that provides space for the flourishing of an ethnos would be a good thing. 5PT does deny, however, that these are viable options in the foreseeable future. In some circles this has been received as “blackpilling,” but we must look at it as triage. It is not urgent to have a nation-state or an empire before having a tribe, and there are really no political actions identitarians can take towards obtaining those state-level institutions because they lack that sort of power and the means to achieve that sort of power under the current system.
Is Diaspora Defeatist? — Is it defeatist to say we cannot go backwards in time to the 19th and 20th centuries? If nationalism of the non-civic variety has been defeated, why chase after the setting Sun? Why should we be attached to this particular form of modernity?… It is this sort of thinking which 5PT seeks to transcend entirely, so as to not be trapped in futile, defeated paradigms. If nationalism relies on mass (re-)conversion of the demos in a given state, what is to be done if that threshold is never crossed? The zen of detachment provides a greater clarity than what for many is a kneejerk-reactionary mindset. The esoteric nature of the “blackpill” is not demoralization but the sharpening of one’s mind to achieve awakening.
In Defense of the West: Trump, Poland, and the Fate of Civilizations — All of these “fundamental questions” point to a need to reassert a sense of ethnos and of hierarchical order, yet these are left unsaid. A civic melting-pot society run by technocrats and demo-bureaucrats cannot combat these issues of civilizational decline, yet that society forms the core of the Atlanticist world and it is that society Trump wants to defend. Trump’s West is one of values and not peoples. Values cannot defend themselves in the first place. Memes need carriers. Values do not arise independently of peoples. This is precisely why civic nationalism will always miss the mark, because it prioritizes and univeralizes the expressions of a people over that people.
The Memory of Columbus in the Western Diaspora — In the Western world, we are asked to hate our first-mover and denounce the reasons for our existence—if not our existence itself—as products of great and irredeemable evil. For what redemption can there truly be for a great mass of sinners but their material and post-historical demise? When the grievance-mongers charge us with grand theft terra they are implying our forebears should not have occupied this land, that the Eurocolonial past should not have existed, that we currently exist as the result of a genocidal transgression which we can never atone for.
“Kill All Normies” and the Alt-Right’s Politics of Transgression — Nagle’s near-monotonic focus on “transgression” detracts from what could have been a discussion of the emergence of unironic identity politics for whites. She focuses far to much on the culture of 4chan and on the Milo persona, seldom touching on any ideas the alt right actually advocates for except to point out how racist or sexist they are. And while she complains about “Tumblr liberalism,” as if that adds some sort of parity to her critique of “online culture wars,” she opposes it only in form and not in substance.
